Rizal
Twenty (20) ha of kawayan tinik was established by the late Domingo Alfonso in Tanay, Rizal. The plantation supplies bamboo poles for fishpens around Laguna de Bay and propagules to bamboo farmers. The plantation also serves as the source of raw material for the bamboo furniture owned by Engr. Alfonso.
Batangas City
Fifty (50) hectares of kawayan tinik was established by Mr. Pastor in San Antonio, Isla Verde, an island of Batangas City. The plantation supplies the raw material needs of the bamboo furniture owned by Mr. Pastor. It also sells bamboo poles to big buyers who are normally traders who supply bamboos to owners of fishpens, poultry houses, bamboo craft producers and other bamboo users.
Negros Occidental
The Kawayan Foundation, Inc. has established 210 ha of bamboo plantation in Negros Occidental with the end view of improving the ecosystem in the countryside and to supply the raw materials for bamboo crafts.
Davao, Mindanao
In Mindanao, particularly in Davao provinces, several thousand hectares of bamboos (mostly laak species) have been established primarily to supply the prop needs of the banana plantations. Approximately 13 million poles used to be the annual requirements .
Laguna de Bay
The provincial government of Laguna under the leadership of Gov. Lina undertook the rehabilitation of the 17 river systems which drain into the Laguna de Bay. A total of 176 km of riverbanks have been rehabilitated using various species of bamboo. This project has the objectives of preventing soil erosion and siltation of the rivers and the lake as well as to provide bamboo materials for livelihood around Laguna de Bay.
Others
The DENR has included bamboo in its reforestation program. As of 1999, a total of 874 hectares have been planted to various economically important bamboo species. In addition, this year nationwide projects on the rehabilitation of critical river systems in every province have been launched.
The National Bamboo Research and Development Project of the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) has established a total of 57 hectares in six (6) regions of the country using economically important bamboo species.
There are other established private plantations in such provinces as Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, La Union, Abra, Iloilo, Bukidnon and other bamboo rich provinces where various bamboo enterprises are located.
