FITS Dairy Herd Management Training yields 502 Graduates PDF Print E-mail

 The 4th, 5th and 6th batches of the Refresher Course on Dairy Herd Management spearheaded by  ATI-RTC 10 FITS  through its Magsasakang Siyentista, Mr. Cresencio Barros Jr. yielded a total of 502 participants who are enthusiastic to pursue a career in dairying.  The training is also sponsored by the Claveria Livestock Raisers Cooperative (CLIRCO), Claveria, Misamis Oriental,  with the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center X of El Salvador City and the Misamis Oriental State College for Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT) at Claveria, all of Misamis Oriental. 
 
The two to three-month training program aims to equip the participants with the required knowledge and skills in dairy herd management, in response to the pressing demand for employment, not only in the country but also abroad, particularly in New Zealand.  The training modules include calf rearing, milking, animal health and nutrition, tractor driving, and general farm maintenance with electric fence fixing, delivered through lecture demonstrations, with a requirement of  240 hours practicum.

Currently, the 7th batch of trainees is ongoing. The orientation was held at ATI-RTC Training Hall on October 18, 2008.
