Organized on May 4, 1988, WESVARRDEC is mandated to establish a unified management group for the purpose of planning, integrating, reviewing and coordinating programs of various member institutions and agencies.

The Western Visayas Agriculture Resources Research and Development Consortium ( WESVARRDEC) is an organization of institutions and agencies which attempts to pool limited technical expertise and other resources related to research and development activities in the region. Formally organized in May 4, 1988, it is mandated to establish a unified regional research and development management group for the purpose of planning, integrating, reviewing and coordinating programs of the various member institutions and agencies. With the University of the Philippines in the Visayas as the lead agency, it aims to maximize the management of resources to advance R&D programs relevant to regional and national developments.

Modern, highly production and sustainable agriculture and natural resources sectors, supported by a responsible and integrated regional R&D organization.

To harness the individual talents, assets and resources of the member-agencies for a more significant contribution to agriculture and natural resources R&D sectors towards advancing regional development.
